Moy Villa easily booked their passage into Round Two of the Connacht Junior Cup as they defeated Ballinrobe Town 6-1 in their First Round Connacht Gold Cup Tie.
 
38-Year-Old Martin Kielty scored a long range effort from 30 yards!
 
Also among the scorers were Mark Beattie who scored twice. Mark Moyles, Shane Devers & Trevor Marshall were also on the scoresheet.

Moy Villa were defeated 6-2 by Castlebar Celtic B in the latest round of Premier A Fixtures.

Moy Villa held to Derby Draw against Conn Rangers
Moy Villa were held to a 2-2 draw away to Conn Rangers in their opening Welcome Inn Hotel Premier A match last Sunday.

The visitors went 1-0 up before half-time courtesy of John Casey but after the restart, Conn Rangers grabbed a hold of the game and scored two goals to lead the game, until Chris Moore grabbed an equaliser for Villa, ensuring the points be shared in the opening League fixture. 

Next up for Villa is the first Home match of the season against Charlestown Athletic, this Saturday in Attymass. Kick-off is at 6.30pm.

Moy Villa begin Premier A Campaign with local derby

Moy Villa begin their Premier A Campaign with an away day derby against Conn Rangers on Sunday 21st April in Mount Falcon. Kick-off is at 2.30

Moy Villa to withdraw B Team

The Moy Villa Club Committee have decided to withdraw the B Team from the Mayo League.

The decision was made due to a decline in numbers attending training and it was felt that the numbers were only sustainable to field one team for the 2013 campaign.

The B Team were due to take their place in League One this season after winning promotion from League Two, but have notified the Mayo League of their intentions to pull out of the league.

Moy Villa scoop awards at Mayo League Dinner Dance
Moy Villa were big winners at the 2012 Mayo League Dinner Dance in the Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar.

Among the award winners were John Durkan who won the Premier B Golden Boot award.

Mark Moyles won the Premier B Player of the Year.

Five players from the Moy Villa first team made the Premier B Team of the Year and Two players from the Moy Villa B Team made the League 2 Team of the Year.


The biggest award received on the night was for Club Chairman, Tony Gallagher (below), who was honoured with the Mayo League Hall of Fame Award, becoming the first member from the club to receive the award.

Jeremy Dee Acknowledgement
Moy Villa Football Club would like to express our sympathies to the family of Castlebar Celtic Coach, Jeremy Dee who has passed away tragically after a car crash.

Thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time. 

Team of the Year Announced
Moy Villa filled five of the eleven spots available in the Mayo League Premier B Team of the Year for 2012.

Club Captain Kevin Langdon, John Casey, John Durkan, Mark Moyles & Daniel Melia were all named in the Premier B Team of the Year.

Martin Kielty & Jason Gilmartin were named in the League 2 Team of the Year.

Moy Villa will face Galway side, Ahascragh in the First Round of the Connacht Junior Shield.

Moy Villa B to play Hollister in League 2 Play-Off Final
Hollister defeated Conn Rangers B 3-1 After Extra Time in the League 2 Play-Off Semi Final, to set up a Final date with Moy Villa B.

The winners of the Final will earn promotion to League 1.

The game will take place this Sunday at Milebush Park. Kick-off at 2pm.

Moy Villa lose to Ballina Town in FAI Junior Cup
Moy Villa were knocked out of the FAI Junior Cup at the Third Round stage, as they lost 2-0 to local rivals, Ballina Town in Belleck.

Moy Villa were comfortably beaten by Galway side, Crumlin 7-2 in the First Round of the Connacht Junior Cup.

Moy Villa knock out Crossmolina to advance in FAI Junior Cup
Moy Villa defeated local rivals, Crossmolina in Abbeytown 3-1 to advance to the Third Round of the FAI Junior Cup, where will face local rivals and Super League side, Ballina Town in the next round on Sunday 4th November.

John Casey won the Premier B Player of the Month for August.

The play-off draw for the League 2 Promotion Play-offs have taken place, and Moy Villa B have received a bye to the Final, where they will face Hollister or Conn Rangers B on Sunday 11th November, with venue and time to be confirmed.

Moy Villa B clinch Play-Off spot after defeating Hollister
Moy Villa still have a one in third chance of promotion, as they clinched an end of season play-off spot as they defeated Hollister 5-1 in Attymass, in an ill-tempered derby game.

Martin Kielty scored a hat-trick, while John Moyles and Shane Devers also on target. They had to finish the game with 10-men after Shane McGinty was sent-off and will miss the play-offs.

Moy Villa win Premier B Championship
Moy Villa have been crowned Premier B Champions, after they drew with Killala 1-1 in their final game of the season, to cap off a fine season, in which they clinched a League & Cup Double and reached the Quarter-Finals of the Connacht Gold Cup.

Moy Villa B beat Newport, First Team held to draw
Moy Villa must earn a win or a draw in their final Premier B game against Killala, as they were held 1-1 away to Westport United B in their penultimate league match.

Meanwhile, Moy Villa B recorded a 6-5 win against Newport Town at Celtic Park, Castlebar. Villa came from behind three times in the first half and went on to claim all three points. Keith Melia & John Moyles were among Villa's goalscorers.

The B Team must beat Hollister in their final league match, to clinch a probable play-off match, with the winners joining Kiltimagh/Knock United in League 1 next season.

Moy Villa earn promotion to Premier A
Moy Villa were defeated 3-2 by Charlestown Athletic in their Premier B encounter in Attymass.

Despite the defeat, Moy Villa earned promotion to Premier A next season, after Westport United B and Ballyglass failed to win, resulting in Villa's promotion to the second tier of the Mayo League.

Moy Villa edge closer to promotion
Moy Villa edged closer to promotion from Premier B, as they defeated Kilmore 4-2 in Attymass last Saturday.

The win leaves Moy Villa five points clear of second-placed Charlestown. Both teams meet this Sunday and if Villa can beat Charlestown, then they will have achieved promotion to Premier A and cap off a fine season, in which they reach the Semi-Finals of the Connacht Gold Cup and won the Tuohy Cup in July. 

Double celebrations as Club and Manager win Mayo League Awards
Moy Villa have been awarded the Mayo League Club of the Month Award for July.

And in a double triumph, Hugh Langan was awarded the Mayo League Premier B Manager of the Month for July, as he steered the club to triumph in the Tuohy Cup Final against Charlestown in July, in addition to keeping the club, top of Premier B.

10-man Moy Villa B held to draw
Moy Villa B were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Fahy Rovers B, effectively ending any hopes of promotion from League 2. They finished the game with 10-men after Shane Devers received a second yellow card.

Moy Villa B fall to defeat
In an ill-tempered contest in Attymass, Kiltimagh/Knock United came from behind to defeat Moy Villa B 3-1, and are almost in reach of promotion to League 1.

Moy Villa trounce Iorras Aontaithe B
Moy Villa thrashed Iorras Aontaithe B 8-1 in Attymass in their Premier B encounter.

They remain two points clear of Charlestown, at the top of the table, with four games remaining.

Moy Villa were beaten by Clew Bay United 2-1 in Attymass, in their Connacht Gold Cup Quarter-Final.

Moy Villa B were also knocked out in the Quarter-Final stage in the Connacht Gold Shield, losing 1-0 to Super League side, Manulla.

Moy Villa B held to draw in Louisburgh
Moy Villa B were held to a thrilling 4-4 draw away to Clew Bay United B in their League 2 encounter.

Moy Villa B are now sixth in the table, seven points adrift from league leaders Kiltimagh/Knock United with five games left in the league still to play.

Moy Villa clinch Tuohy Cup
Moy Villa came from behind to defeat Charlestown Athletic 4-2 to clinch the Tuohy Cup in Milebush Park, Castlebar.

John Durkan and John Casey both scored twice to seal the victory. In what was a high-tempo match throughout, it was Villa that emerged winners and ensured that the Tuohy Cup made its way to Attymass.

Moy Villa B bounced back from a disappointing 1-1 draw with Conn Rangers B last Thursday, to comfortably defeat Castlebar Celtic C 4-2 in Attymass.

The win puts the B team in 5th place in the League 2 Table, five points behind leaders Hollister and second-placed Kiltimagh/Knock United.

Moy Villa defeated Bangor Hibs 3-1 in Bangor to reach the Connacht Cup Second Round.

Charlestown get the better of Moy Villa
Charlestown defeated Moy Villa 1-0 in Charlestown. The defeat was compounded with John Judge being sent-off for a Second Bookable offence.

The defeat means that Moy Villa remain top of Premier B but their lead has been cut to just a single point better off than second-placed Ballyglass.

Moy Villa B were beaten 3-1 by Kiltimagh/Knock United in their League 2 match. The B Team's consolation goal came from Martin Kielty, who scored a penalty for the visitors, who are now three points adrift from the top of the table.

Moy Villa B win at home
Moy Villa B were 3-1 winners at home to Clew Bay United B in Attymass, to go level on points on top of League 2. Shane Devers (2) and Martin Maughan were the goalscorers for Villa.

The only sour note of the game was a sending off for Nigel Lackey near the end of the game, but the B Team managed to hang on to claim the win and three points.

Moy Villa were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Kilmore in Attymass. Barry Molloy was the goalscorer for Villa. 

The draw keeps Moy Villa, top of Premier B.

Moy Villa came from 2-1 down to defeat Iorras Aontaithe B 6-2, to build a lead at the top of Premier B.

Kevin McCarron scored four goals, and Kevin Langdon & John Durcan got the other goals in a convincing win for Villa.

Moy Villa B knocked out of Connacht Gold Cup
Moy Villa B were well beaten by Super League side, Westport United 8-2 in Ballyheane, to bow out of the Connacht Gold Cup competition.

Moy Villa's cup tie away to Bangor Hibs was postponed due to a bereavement.

John Durcan win Player of the Month Award
John Durcan was awarded the Mayo League Premier B 'Player of the Month' for the month of April.

John's good form has coincided with Moy Villa's strong start to the league campaign, which they have been unbeaten so far in all competitons.


Moy Villa beat Mulranny to claim first win of season
Moy Villa defeated Mulranny United 2-0 in the second round of fixtures in the Premier B Division.

Villa's next game is a home clash with Ballyglass, this Saturday in Attymass with a 6.30 kick-off.

Moy Villa were held to a 1-1 draw against 10-man Killala, in Attymass last Saturday, in their opening fixture of the new Mayo League Premier B season.

Moy Villa B defeated Hollister 3-2 in their League 2 opener in Belleek, Ballina. Brendan Lackey, Keith Melia & Kevin McCarron were the goalscorers for the B team.

John Giles Walk of Dreams 2012
The John Giles Walk of Dreams, in association with Three Mobile & the Football Association of Ireland, will take place at Croagh Patrick on Saturday 28th April and in Belmullet on Bank Holiday Monday, 7th May.

April Start for new Mayo League Season
The Mayo League have announced that the new season will start on the weekend of 14th/15th April. 

Fixtures for the new season will be announced soon.
 

Moy Villa Club Committee 2012 is formed
Moy Villa FC held their AGM on Monday 9th January in Katie's Corner, Ballina. A new club committee was formed for the year ahead. Everyone appointed were proposed and seconded by members of the club, including senior team players.

The senior Club Committee for 2012 are as follows

Tony Gallagher has been appointed Club Chairman
Martin Kielty has been appointed Club Secretary
Sean Garvin has been appointed Club Treasurer
Adrian Gaughan has been appointed Vice-Chairman

The position of PRO is vacant and will be filled at a later date.
The Youths Committee for 2012 are as follows

Ciaran Quinn has been appointed Youths Chairman
Darragh Ferguson has been appointed Youths Secretary


Moy Villa drawn with local rivals Ballina Town
Moy Villa have been drawn away to local rivals and 2010 Elverys Super League Champions, Ballina Town, in the Second Round of the F.A.I. Junior C
up. The tie will take place in Pete Murray Park, Belleek, Ballina on Sunday 23rd October with Kick-off TBA.

Amongst the games down for decision in the Second Round include Westport Utd vs Snugboro Utd, Straide & Foxford vs Clew Bay Utd, Killala host Newport Town, Iorras Aontaithe vs Castlebar Celtic, Manulla are away to Swinford, Bangor Hibs are away to Hollister and Claremorris are at home to Ballyheane.

Moy Villa draw Calry Bohemians in Connacht Junior Cup
Moy Villa have been drawn away to Calry Bohemians from County Sligo, in the First Round of the Connacht Junior Cup. The tie will take place in Calry on Sunday 25th September with Kick-off at 2pm.

Moy Villa B Relegated from League 2
Moy Villa B drew with Bangor Hibs B in the final game of the League 2 season, in an entertaining encounter that finished 5-5.

The draw wasnt enough for Moy Villa B as only a win would see them survive in League 2 for another year but a draw condemned Moy Villa B's relegation to League 3 next season.

Moy Villa defeated Premier B Champions, Bangor Hibs 6-5 in Attymass, in the last Premier B game of the 2011 season. Shane Maughan was amongst the scorers for Villa with two goals. Moy Villa finished in 3rd place in Premier B, narrowly missing out on promotion to Premier A for 2012 season.

Castlebar Celtic B's victory over Kilmore, ensured that they won automatic promotion to play in Premier A, along with Bangor Hibs.

The Moy Villa Golf Scramble will take place at Ballina Golf Club, on Saturday 8th October. The inaugural 'Bernie Judge Perpetual Shield' will be contested on the day, in honour of the late Bernie Judge, who sadly passed away last May.

Moy Villa B were held to a 2-2 draw against Cross Celtic, in their League 2 game in Attymass. Villa's goals came from Brendan Lackey & Jason Gilmartin. Nigel Lackey was sent-off for the home side for a second yellow card, with the scores level.

Moy Villa lose to Castlebar Celtic B, but defeat Crossmolina
Moy Villa were defeated 4-1 by Castlebar Celtic B in Castlebar, last Thursday in Welcome Inn Hotel Premier B.

Last Saturday, Moy Villa recovered from their loss to Castlebar Celtic B, by defeating local rivals Crossmolina 2-0 in Attymass.

Moy Villa B get the better of Ballyhaunis Town in League 2
Moy Villa B defeated Ballyhaunis Town in their League 2 encounter in Ballyhaunis, winning 2-1. Goals in each half, from Keith Ryan & Chris Moore secured the win for Moy Villa B. Ballyhaunis scored a consolation goal in the second half, from the penalty spot.

It was Moy Villa B's second win in League 2 and up next is a home game against Cross Celtic on 17th July.


Mayo Schoolboy/Girls & Youths Association Football League holding AGM in July
The Annual General Meeting of the Mayo Schoolboys/Girls & Youths AFL will take place on Thursday 7th July at 7.30pm in the Training Centre, Mayo County Council, Castlebar.

Items on the agenda will include Minutes of the Annual General Meeting 2010, Chairman's Address, Secretary's Report, Treasurer's Report, Registrar's Report, Election of Secretary, Election of League Management Committee, Motions and Rule Changes and Address by Invited Guests.

Moy Villa B bow out of Connacht Gold Shield
Moy Villa B were narrowly defeated 4-3 by Claremorris B in Concannon Park, Claremorris, as they exited the Connacht Gold Shield at the First Round stage. Villa's goals came from Stephen Melvin, Aaron Devers & Chris Moore.

Moy Villa are still in the Connacht Gold Shield. They received a bye into the Second Round. The draw for the Shield Second Round will be made shortly.

Moy Villa U-13's win Division 2 Championship
Moy Villa U-13's defeated Urlaur United 9-0 in Attymass on Friday Night, to win the Mayo Youths U-13 Division Two Championship for the fourth year in a row.

Congratulations are extended to all the players involved and to their coaches, Adrian Gaughan & Brendan Egan for all their hard work and dedication.

The Division Two trophy will be presented at a later date.

Moy Villa Secretary on Midwest Radio's Sports Talkshop Programme
Moy Villa Secretary, Sean Garvin was a guest on the Sports Talkshop Programme on Midwest Radio, as Moy Villa were featured on the programme's 'Club Focus' segment.

He spoke about the progress of Moy Villa's season so far and spoke of their chances of achieving promotion from Premier B, about how having a 'B' team increases competition amongst players for starting places and also spoke about the Sean Davis Academy which will take place in Attymass in July.


Moy Villa receive bye in Connacht Gold Shield, Moy Villa B away to Claremorris B
Moy Villa received a bye into the Second Round of the Connacht Gold Shield, while Moy Villa must overcome Claremorris B, This Saturday in Claremorris, to join them in the Second Round. Game kicks-off at 7pm in Concannon Park, Claremorris.

Moy Villa were held to a 3-3 at Home to Ballyglass in their Premier B encounter in Attymass last Saturday.

Moy Villa B lost out to Ballina United in League 2, in their local derby game in Attymass. Game finished 2-0 to United with both goals scored in the second half. 

Ballyhaunis Town advance to McDonnell Cup Final
Ballyhaunis Town defeated Moy Villa B in Ballyhaunis, to reach the McDonnell Cup Final. The match finished 6-3. Villa's goals came from Padraic Garvin (2) and Brendan Lackey.
